A Drupal that integrates AI and simply solves your problem. A citizen asks about their benefits at midnight, in their own language, and gets a clear, correct answer in seconds. Every agency's knowledge, instantly available to the people it serves.
That is not science fiction. At the Driesnote in Rotterdam, Dries Buytaert showed AI assistants connected straight to Drupal sites, and exposing a module's capabilities to AI shrinking from about a thousand lines of code to about twenty attributes. I left genuinely excited. This is the moment AI stops being a demo and becomes infrastructure, and Drupal is going to be right at the centre of it.
There is one thing standing in the way, and I want to extend the keynote with it.
The main problem of institutional AI is confident hallucinations. Clean sentences, perfect formatting, zero doubt. Completely wrong. A citizen will not question a confident answer from a ministry. They act on it.
You cannot train confidence out of a model. But you can control what it is allowed to be confident about. This is something Drupal can solve.
The AI answers only from structured, approved content, the one source of truth it is allowed to use. Every answer points back to a real page with an owner and a revision history. Content moderation and permissions decide what the AI can see, exactly as they decide what the public can see. And when the answer is not in the content, the AI says "I don't know" and hands over to a human.
The AI stops inventing. It starts quoting.
And the Rosetta Sprint Dries proposed, making Drupal describe its capabilities consistently to agents, is the same idea from the other direction. Governed descriptions going out, governed content coming back.
That is why I think Drupal has its biggest opportunity in years. Governments and enterprises do not need a smarter model. They need AI they can trust, and trust needs a governed source of truth underneath. Drupal has been exactly that for twenty-five years.
The institutions that combine the two will not just keep up with AI. They will lead with it. I cannot wait to build it.
