Twelve years in Drupal. People keep arguing about it online and missing the actual point.
Market share isn't suitability. Cheap code isn't free software. "Outdated" usually just means someone bounced off it in week one.
AI made code free. Fine. Code was never the product — running it, securing it, upgrading it, being the person who answers when it breaks was always the job.
The engineers who matter aren't the best coders in the room. They're the ones who can explain a real risk to someone non-technical, who actually mentor instead of pointing at docs, and who own it when a security advisory drops.
Twelve years in, I'd do it again tomorrow. Not because it's popular — because it's still standing, and most of what's competing with it right now is faking that.
